Green House Tips

  1. Whatever glazing material you end up using, consider a
double layer with a dead air space. If the outer layer is
frosted rather than transparent it will help to moderate summer
heat build up which will be your biggest challenge.
  2. Make sure to design good ventilation capabilities.
  3. If your environment is anything like mine, plan for an
    onslaught of burrowing predators (gophers).
  4. Weed control will be easier if you use drip irrigation.
  5. Plan on spring and fall seasons being the best. The hot days
    of summer pose big challenge.
  6. If you intend to employ a closed circulation greenhouse, you
will have to think about aids to pollination.
  7. An excellent source of greenhouse supplies can be found in
    Charley's Greenhouse Supplies www.charleysgreenhouse.com
A good book is Greenhouse Gardener's Companion by Shane Smith.
  8. Unless you enjoy carbon monoxide poisoning, consider an
    electric-powered tiller. I have a Mantis.
  9. Ask yourself if a high humidity will compromise the workshop
    end of the building.
  10. It ain't easy ! Expect to learn a whole new growing paradigm.
